Teaming Up for Ocean Literacy: Healthy Seas Joins the ProBleu Platform

At Healthy Seas, we believe that the journey to ocean conservation starts in the classroom. That’s why we’re excited to announce our new partnership with ProBleu, an EU initiative committed to boosting ocean and water literacy in school communities across Europe.

What is ProBleu?
ProBleu is part of the European Union’s “Restore our Ocean and Waters” Mission. It supports the Network of European Blue Schools (NEBS) and aims to connect education with science, community engagement, and sustainable use of marine and freshwater ecosystems.

Through open schooling approaches and hands-on projects, ProBleu invites schools to take a leading role in shaping a more water-conscious and biodiversity-driven society.

Why We Partnered with ProBleu
By joining the ProBleu platform, Healthy Seas is expanding the reach of our environmental education resources. This collaboration allows teachers from EU member and associated countries to access our content in their native language using an integrated AI translation tool.

What’s Available Now

These materials introduce students to the issue of ghost fishing nets and the importance of marine biodiversity through storytelling, science, and direct action.

Empowering Schools with Funding Opportunities
To further encourage water literacy, ProBleu is now offering grants of up to €7,500 to schools ready to implement blue-themed projects. The current call is open until May 23, 17:00 Brussels time (CEST).

Eligible applicants include primary, secondary, and vocational schools in EU countries and associated nations. Priority will be given to proposals from countries like Germany, Ireland, Iceland, Ukraine, and others.

Let’s Support the Next Generation of Ocean Guardians
By collaborating with initiatives like ProBleu, we’re not only raising awareness—we’re building a foundation for long-term marine protection through education.

If you’re an educator or school leader, don’t miss this opportunity to bring water-focused learning into your classrooms.
