Stories from Some of Our Volunteers

    Ellie
    Surface Volunteer
By cleaning our beaches and oceans, we're not just removing harmful waste – it's creating a ripple effect. With each effort, we’re building a sense of responsibility and connection to the ocean. The more people and industries we engage in Healthy Seas’ mission, the stronger and more widespread the movement becomes. It’s inspiring to be part of a team that’s dedicated to making a positive change, and it reminds me that even the smallest actions can lead to big change.

We have the chance to clean wrecks which are almost unreachable otherwise and while cleaning these wrecks we might be able to confirm identification and make them a safer place for marine life.
So these are two things, put together with a great team, with the fun on board, and the motivation is there automatically.

    Marina
    Surface Volunteer
I volunteer with Healthy Seas because it gives me the chance to make a real impact. There’s something deeply rewarding about seeing a polluted beach transform into a clean, beautiful space.
It’s even more fulfilling when you get to rescue small sea creatures along the way.
Every cleanup is a chance to be useful and contribute to something bigger.

    Hens
    Diver
My motivation is to play a small part in helping the environment and helping people to be aware of what we found underwater and hopefully that they can think about it to contribute themselves to be more responsible for this planet.

    Michael
    Diver/Photo/Video
I join Healthy Seas missions because I’m passionate about diving and capturing the underwater world.
My goal is to bring the beauty and urgency of ocean conservation to the surface through dynamic footage and metal music.
As the director of A Journey to Ithaca, I’m driven by storytelling that makes a difference, and Healthy Seas and Ghost Diving provide the perfect platform to share these stories.

    Henning
    Diver/Scientific Advisor
We could only change things we know, right? And science is responsible for creating knowledge about the threats that are happening in the ocean.
So I think science is extremely important to inform the public and to raise awareness about these problems. This is why I'm joining as scientific advisor to these missions.

    Mario
    Diver/ Historical Diving Advisor
The drive for most of us is enjoying the dives in these beautiful unique sites that are so fantastic to explore and to visit and that it is a total privilege what we are doing, it’s unreal.
But the nobility of our activity extends even further: by cleaning up marine litter, we not only preserve the life of historical shipwrecks but also bring their stories to light, sharing their rich history with the world.

    Fabio
    Artist/Education Volunteer
As an artist, I am grateful to work with Healthy Seas. It's inspiring to use my creativity to support such an important mission, knowing that through art and design, we can raise awareness, inspire action, and contribute to the preservation of our oceans. Water is the origin of all life on Earth and marine ecosystems play a vital role in regulating our climate. The health of our oceans is directly tied to the health of all life on Earth. Together, we can make a difference for future generations.

    Chippie
    Surface Volunteer/Feel Good Manager
Our Healthy Seas Feel Good Manager takes his volunteer work very seriously helping in clean- ups and marine litter collection. This is until he gets sleepy!

    Gelareh
    Ambassador
Attending the UN Ocean Conference made me increasingly appreciative of the frontline work Healthy Seas does, not only dialoguing with stakeholders of the fishing sector, but alerting the global community of hotspots and concerns in the enormous challenge that is tackling ghost gear.

    Nikki
    Education Volunteer/Fashion Designer

    Bartek Trzcinski
    Diver
Water feels like my second home. The desire to explore it, protect it, and speak up for it are my main motivations for joining the Healthy Seas mission.
It is inspiring to know that there are still people who care, and that we can enjoy working together on such an important cause.
The world does not end at the water's surface—it begins there!
This is the message we want to plant in the minds of the younger generation.
In the end it all depends on them.
