Vegan Dog Treats Brand Supports Marine Conservation Efforts

We are excited to welcome Pawtato, a brand from the vegan and ethical company Vegeco, as the newest partner of Healthy Seas. With their unique, plant-based ocean treats for dogs made from seaweeds (land farmed), Pawtato shares our commitment to protecting marine ecosystems and reducing plastic pollution.

Darrell de Vries, co-founder of Pawtato, shares a personal connection to our mission:

I have spent most of my life by the sea, witnessing both its breathtaking beauty and the damage caused by human activity over several decades. We are proud to support Healthy Seas in their mission to remove plastic waste from our oceans, helping to restore marine habitats, and transforming, with their partners, harmful waste into useful products, such as the floor tiles in our offices.

Healthy Seas was founded with a simple yet powerful goal: to combat marine plastic pollution, specifically ghost nets—discarded fishing nets that harm marine life. Through our volunteers and partnerships with companies, we recover this waste from the oceans to give it a new life fostering recycling and a circular economy that benefits both the environment and society.

Founded in 2003 and based in Havant, UK, Vegeco’s ethical mission has earned them prestigious recognitions, including the Queen’s Award for International Trade in 2018. Now, through Pawtato and with Healthy Seas, they are supporting directly ocean conservation efforts, demonstrating that eco-friendly products and sustainability can go hand-in-hand with innovation in the pet industry.

Stay tuned for more exciting developments as we continue to grow our partnerships and make a positive impact on marine conservation, with the help of amazing brands like Pawtato.
