Milestone Beach Cleanup in Mumbai with DWS Employees
Engaging Global Teams for Ocean Conservation
At the Healthy Seas Foundation, our mission to protect marine ecosystems thrives through strong partnerships. Recently, we celebrated a significant milestone at Koliwada Beach, Juhu, Mumbai, India, where DWS employees, our strategic partner, organized their first beach cleanup in the region. This collective effort resulted in the removal of around 100 kilograms of non-biodegradable waste, contributing to a healthier marine environment.
A Collaborative Effort for Sustainability
This beach cleanup marks the first Healthy Seas activity in India, made possible by the dedication of the DWS team. Volunteers collected around 10 bags of waste, primarily consisting of plastic wrappers, plastic bottles, small amounts of left-over fishing nets, and polystyrene foam. Their commitment aligns with their broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals, which prioritize sustainability and support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The cleanup not only tackled beach litter but also raised awareness within the community about the impact of marine pollution. By engaging in conversations with locals, volunteers highlighted how individual consumer choices can affect the ocean, demonstrating how everyone can play a role in protecting it.
DWS and Healthy Seas: A Partnership for Global Impact
Our partnership with DWS extends beyond beach cleanups. Over the years, DWS has supported Healthy Seas through educational programs, awareness-raising events, and the donation of key resources like the MAKO boat. A crucial element of this collaboration is the involvement of DWS employees, who volunteer their time to participate, promote and organize these activities, from school programs to public events.
Looking Ahead in India
We are hopeful that, with continued support from the local DWS team, more impactful projects will follow. This collaboration showcases the power of global partnerships in creating tangible, positive changes for our oceans.
As we continue to work together with DWS, we aim to inspire more communities to take action for ocean conservation—because a cleaner ocean starts with us.
