Diving Into Sustainability: Hyundai Motor America, Healthy Seas, and Ghost Diving USA Join Forces for Ocean Conservation

Hey there, ocean advocates! We’re stoked to bring you the latest scoop on an exciting partnership making waves in the world of sustainability. Hyundai Motor America has officially joined hands with Healthy Seas and Ghost Diving USA to take their commitment to ocean conservation to new depths.

On December 9, 2023, the trio kicked off their collaboration with a beach cleanup event at the picturesque Huntington Beach State Park in California. Picture this: a crew of passionate folks from Hyundai Motor America, alongside the dedicated teams of Healthy Seas and Ghost Diving USA, rolled up their sleeves to tackle marine pollution head-on.

The Cleanup Action

Armed with determination and eco-friendly vibes, our teams dove into action, retrieving abandoned fishing nets and other debris that threaten our marine ecosystems. The result? Over 50 pounds of microplastic particles were collected during this impactful cleanup initiative. That’s 50 pounds less harm to our oceans – talk about a win for Mother Nature!

Beyond Cleanup: A Commitment to Education

But it’s not just about cleaning up – it’s also about educating and inspiring change. During the beach cleanup, participants from the Hyundai USA team not only lent their helping hands but also showed keen interest and curiosity about Healthy Seas. Some even brought their families along for the experience, making it a day of learning, bonding, and giving back.

Hyundai’s Commitment to Sustainability

Randy Parker, the Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Motor America, shared his enthusiasm about the partnership: “Sustainability is a core human value for Hyundai, and protecting the world’s oceans is of utmost importance. This partnership with Healthy Seas and Ghost Diving USA bolsters our global commitment to creating a more sustainable future for all.”

Diving into Action – Meet Our Ocean Heroes

In this project once again, we welcome Ghost Diving USA, a dynamic force in removing lost fishing gear and marine debris. Jim Babor, President and CEO of Ghost Diving USA, highlights the importance of their work, stating, “Through the generosity and partnership with Hyundai Motor America, our important work can continue. We’re moving forward with missions, projects, and goals into the new year, including some exciting diving activities with volunteer divers to recover ghost nets from the sea in California.”

Our ocean heroes are not just talking the talk; they’re diving deep to take tangible actions for a cleaner, healthier ocean. With every dive, they’re making a real impact, and we can’t wait to see the positive ripples they create in the coming missions.
