For years, Healthy Seas has been actively involved in the waste management supply chain for Diopas, a leader in the fish farming industry. Leveraging our network and expertise, we’ve facilitated the collection and transportation of waste fishing nets suitable for recycling from the Greek fish farming industry to Aquafil for recycling into ECONYL® regenerated nylon.

Aquafil, renowned for its recycling capabilities, has teamed up with Diopas to introduce sustainable solutions to the fish farming sector. Together, they’re leading the charge in designing and producing fish farming nets and components with circular economy principles at their core.

This collaboration offers numerous advantages:

• The new net is made entirely from recycled materials: Including old fishing nets recovered through our partnership with Diopas, these nets help reduce the extraction of new resources.
• The nets are designed as monomaterial: The components are easily separable for efficient recycling, ensuring a smoother recycling process.
• Infinitely recyclable: Once at the end of their life cycle, these nets can be recycled without compromising quality, closing the loop on waste.
