The Surface Squad is a volunteer group formed in 2021 following training sessions with DWS staff who wanted to become ambassadors and take action with us to protect the seas and oceans!

During the summer, members of the DWS surface squad were active all over Germany to raise awareness about Healthy Seas. We are grateful for their support!

  •  June 30th, a beach cleanup in Lübeck at Strand Brodtener Ufer was organised by Jennifer Luxshmy Harikantha who mobilized her colleagues as part of the regional sales team meeting. Ghost Diving Germany volunteers Ralf and Annika joined in, as did our very own project manager, Christina Wiegers.  The day started with a 45 minute “presentation” by Healthy Seas and Ghost Diving on our activities and missions. The 23 participants collected mostly cigarette butts and bottles and had some fun while learning more about our work. A great way to strengthen our partnership!
  • June 24th, Ulrich Hähner and Leon Vosse carried out an interactive presentation to 9th grade students at the Westerholt High School in East Friesland. This was the first of a series of events to follow in the coming months.
  • June 10th, Jennifer Luxshmy Harikantha engaged 11 kindergarteners in an educational programme in the area of Bad Vibel.

Soon to come…Olaf Hills will be sailing to Marseille, France and raising awareness about Healthy Seas. Last year, Olaf was in the Baltic Sea speaking to skippers and crews of pleasure crafts about our work.
