Last weekend, the Innerspace Explorers Greece diving team performed a Healthy Seas clean-up diving trip near the Island of Romvi in Tolo, Peloponnese. Approximately 300 kilograms of ghostnets were recovered, from three locations in Tolo-Argolida. Through our partner MEDASSET-Mediterranean Association to Save the Sea Turtles we continue collecting derelict fishing nets in Greece this year to regenerate them into beautiful textile products!

Since May 2015 Healthy Seas and MEDASSET have agreed to join forces in the battle against marine litter in Greece. In addition to their “at sea” retrieval programme, MEDASSET is also encouraging fishermen to collect and dispose of their redundant fishing nets on land. The first collection points have been established in the harbours of Mikrolimano, Alimos and Perama this year.
