Ahoy Ocean Advocates!

We’ve got some exciting news to share – our latest dive with Zibel is just the beginning of an incredible journey against marine pollution in Malta! 🌊

Making Waves in Malta: Dive Recap

So, here’s the lowdown: Healthy Seas Foundation and Zibel have officially kicked off a formal long-term partnership in Malta, and boy, it’s been a splash! While it’s not our first dive together (we’ve had some awesome ones in the past), this recent one was the formal start of something big.

In a dedicated one-week mission, our teams, alongside the fantastic Ghost Diving volunteers, dove into action to retrieve 16 gillnets and 22 octopus cages. These remnants of marine activity are deadly traps harming marine life even after being discarded. But fear not – we’re on a mission to change that!

Beyond the Dive: More Missions, More Impact

But wait, there’s more! Besides our kick-off dive, we’ve already completed two more cleanup missions in Xemxija Bay, removing a whopping 1.6 tons of marine litter. Fishing gear, metal fragments, plastic – you name it, we’ve cleared it. And we’re just getting started!

Meet Zibel: Our Partner in the Clean-Ocean Crusade

Now, why are we so excited about Zibel? These guys have been rocking the sustainability game in Malta since 2017. Zibel is a registered Voluntary Organisation and NGO, on a mission to reduce waste and preserve natural ecosystems on the Maltese islands. Partnering with Zibel isn’t just about cleaning up; it’s about creating a cleaner and more sustainable future for Malta.

Join us on this epic journey – from more dives to educational events, we’re rallying together diverse stakeholders, authorities, diving centers, fishermen, institutions, schools, and the awesome general public. Together, Healthy Seas Foundation and Zibel are steering towards a greener, cleaner Malta!
