In the depths of our vast, mysterious oceans, an urgent mission is underway. A mission led not by seasoned sailors or fearless divers but by a dynamic wave of young minds, eager to protect and preserve our planet’s most precious treasure – the sea. At the Healthy Seas Foundation, we believe that educating the future generations is the key to safeguarding our oceans. We recently embarked on a thrilling journey in partnership with Hyundai Canarias, a steadfast supporter of our cause, and several local organizations, to inspire, educate, and empower the young hearts and minds of Gran Canaria.

Our day began on the sandy shores of Telde, Gran Canaria, where we joined hands with our trusted local partners, Ocean4Life. These passionate ocean advocates have been the unsung heroes of countless beach cleanups, tirelessly working to remove plastic and other debris from our coastlines. With their guidance, we started our day with an eye-opening discussion on the challenges our oceans face. The dedication of Ocean4Life and their commitment to creating a cleaner, healthier environment resonated deeply with the young participants. Their energy and enthusiasm were truly contagious, making our mission even more impactful.

Following our beach cleanup, we returned to the Marpe Altavista school, our eager young ocean warriors in tow. Here, we were joined by Ghost Diving Spain, another valued partner of Healthy Seas. Ghost Diving Spain brought fresh news and captivating footage from their underwater adventures off the coast of Tenerife. They’ve been diving deep, searching for marine litter and ghost nets – a crucial effort to free our oceans from these hidden menaces. Our young learners were spellbound by their tales from the deep, forging a personal connection to the underwater world like never before.

The day continued with a splash of knowledge as our ghost divers recounted their deep-sea journeys and the unique challenges they encountered. The kids were fascinated by the secrets hidden beneath the waves, and their curiosity bloomed like a coral reef in full glory. We also delved into the world of recycling and the concept of a circular economy, showing the students how waste can find a second life. They watched in awe as discarded materials, such as fishing nets, were transformed together with other nylon waste into practical items like car mats for the new Hyundai IONIQ 6, a great example of sustainable innovation both inside and out.

In the end, our initiative with Hyundai Canarias was not just a day of fun and education; it was a call to action, a deep-sea adventure on the shorelines of Gran Canaria. We believe that educating the younger generation is the first step towards creating a brighter, cleaner, and healthier future for our oceans. The enthusiasm we witnessed in these young ocean ambassadors was a spark of hope, a shimmering beacon for our cause and for the future of Gran Canaria.

Initiatives like this remind us of the magic that unfolds when businesses, organizations, and the educational community join forces. Hyundai Canarias and Healthy Seas worked together to raise awareness about marine pollution and to promote sustainable practices in everyday life. As we look toward the future, we see the waves of change building, and it’s a swell we are proud to ride.

So, whether you’re a seasoned sailor or a young, curious mind, there’s a place for everyone in the mission to protect our oceans. Join us, and together, we can be the change we wish to see in the world. The sea is calling, and it’s time to answer.

Let’s continue to explore, educate, and protect our oceans, one wave at a time.
