Original artwork by Fábio de Sá, French-Brazilian designer.

This artwork was initially created in my imagination. I envisioned a new reality where Mother Nature was our queen; Her Majesty possessed the ability to gather all the waste and pollutants humans have generated and transform them into objects of beauty and purpose. This would benefit not only all sentient beings, but regenerate nature, Earth herself.
That would be magical, wouldn’t it?

An example of pollution and threat to our world and its biodiversity also became an inspiration for this dress. At first glance, so-called “ghost” fishing nets are invisible to our eyes, but are very present when we search the water and seabed. Each year, approximately 640,000 tons of fishing gear are lost or abandoned in the oceans. Millions of marine animals including dolphins, seals, and turtles become entangled in these nets, suffer, and die an untimely death. It is precisely from these observations that I came up with the idea of the magic net of Queen Mother Nature.

Her Majesty’s Kingdom – our earth reborn

Queen Mother Nature, with her magic net, purifies the rivers, oceans, plains, mountains, forests, wherever she goes. She protects all being.
She reclaims, then transforms all pollution and degradation incurred by humans. All these recovered materials come to life and become magical beings of flora and fauna.

The story of the dress

The story of the dress begins in its centre-front, where darkness becomes light; the full energy and strength of our sun illuminates the world. A belt at the same center joins day with the power of the night. Shards of gold and gems from the core of the earth give it balance and strength. Her ethereal bust is covered with crystals; vines connect to the heavens where rests a fine shower of twinkling stars. Her necklace is an amulet where soul stones and lianas of luminous gold become one.
Queen Mother Nature reigns with kindness and benevolence. In her kingdom all is love and peace.

What is your vision of the materials?

We, the human family, continue to consume in a very linear way: Extract – Make – Throw away. Millions of tons of materials are used once, especially packaging. Other materials that we think are recyclable are often found in our household waste.

What if our vision changes?

`As a designer, I have always enjoyed observing, touching materials, especially those that we think have no further use. These materials deserve a second life. Let’s give them several chances.

Until today, the dress has been exhibited at:

– Game of Trees Festival / Ski Resort Les Orres (August 2022)
– Event “Semaine des autres modes” organized by the Collectif UAMEP / Paris invited by Fashion Revolution France (October 2022)

It is the intention of the designer to continue exhibiting the dress of Queen Mother Nature. Contact Fábio de Sá for more information.
