Virago Active is an action wear company that launched its first swimwear collection in early 2020. Like their slogan “WE DARE & WE CARE” they support the ocean environment by using fabrics that contain regenerated ECONYL® yarn, made from recycled fishing nets and other nylon waste. The other part of their mission is to encourage women to find inner strength through ocean or beach sports.
Lara Schilken, Founder of Virago had this to say about why they joined Healthy Seas:
“We would love to introduce the cause of Healthy Seas here in Australia and raise awareness for the joint mission we have to save and preserve marine life and the lifecycle from ghostnet fishing to the finished product at Virago. The ocean wildlife is very close to our hearts here in Australia, however there aren’t many initiatives like Healthy Seas to date. We hope to explore some opportunities for many collaborations with Healthy Seas in Oceania in the near future as we truly believe, team effort can change the world and our oceans.”
