Our partner, Tarkett, a global leader in innovative flooring solutions is rolling out a red carpet made of recycled fishing nets for students taking part in a beach clean-up on September 18th.
About 30 school children from Basisschool Meander in Tilburg, teachers, parents and local beach clean up groups are expected to join the action in an effort to raise awareness and educate about marine litter. The event is organised by Healthy Seas in collaboration with Grondstofjutters, Herpetofauna Foundation and Tarkett.
The event, which is scheduled to begin at 10:30, will feature an exhibition presenting creative works by the students as well as fishing nets and products made of ECONYL® yarn. Participating children will have the opportunity to meet the larger than life mascots, Astro the turtle and Echo the dolphin and observe live presentations. A red carpet made of ECONYL® yarn by Tarkett will lead the children to the beach for a clean-up, rounding out the day.
Dirk van Gestel, marketing manager at Tarkett Nederland made this statement: “We are very happy that we can contribute to the cleaning of the beaches with the beach clean up. Together with a number of colleagues and of course the school children we want to make this event a great success. We think it’s important to make young children aware of the importance of clean oceans. We are happy to roll out our red DESSO runner, made from ECONYL ® yarn.”
This environmental education event comes a month after Tarkett followed Healthy Seas on a diving trip in the North Sea. Watch video below:
