A typical quote of a Ghost Fishing diver: “There is no such thing as too many lift bags” and indeed, last weekend was again a perfect example of that when the Ghost Fishing team headed back to the HMS E36, an E-class submarine for the British Royal Navy which sunk in a collision with HMS E43 off Harwich in the North Sea on 19 January 1917.
Since they dived the submarine wreck HMS E36 for the first time and removed a huge pile of ghost nets from the side of the wreck the team couldn’t stop talking about another huge but partly sanded trawler net on the bow of the submarine. It was clear, that should be the next target but they needed good visibility for a mission like that. Last weekend they had the chance and headed back to the HMS E36 to get the job done with success! The team successfully removed the whole trawler net from the bow in two dives companied by Ghost Fishing‘s newest team member and promising photographer Gijs Doornbusch.
