… sometimes they rise from the ocean.

In pursuit of innovative and sustainable solutions for marine plastic waste, the Circular Ocean project seeks to inspire enterprises and entreprenuers to realise the hidden opportunities of discarded fishing nets and ropes in the Northern Periphery & Arctic (NPA) region. Circular Ocean runs for three years (2015-2018).

Healthy Seas has been invited to their kick-off event which took place in Alesund, Norway on 1-2 September 2016. We provided a showcase for circular economy while highlighting that waste is too valuable to be wasted. The conference was focusing on the economic opportunities of fishing nets recycling in northern Europe and the Arctic region while bringing together a great pool of experts.

We are very proud and happy that Healthy Seas has been featured throughout the whole event! Besides our socks made with ECONYL® yarn also appear in this great video below:

Linear industrial processes are about “Make, Use, Dispose” and create products that eventually end up in landfills or in incinerators. It’s a loss which comes with a price both for the economy and for the environment. In a circular economy waste is a resource.

Thank you for all of our partners for working on sustainable solutions together!
